Living next door to Alisovski

Stuka stonk paves the way forward for the Grenadiers(1)

And very effective it proves to be...well co-ordinated and in close proximity of the German forward elements. This is when things could have gone horribly wrong but the targeting was bang on. (2) Here come the Romanians after their long trek up country(3)
Germans move through beaten zone.(4)
....between the Russian armour and the town, presumably to avoid contact with the edge of the wooded area...let sleeping dogs lay. (5)
PHEW!(6)
Fire from the town....(7)
Russian infantry enfilade the hanomags and force an exchange of small arms fire. (8)
Russian artillery replies in kind to wreak havoc amongst the assaulting infantry. (9&10)

Russians Huzzah! Two Russian infantry battalions charge from the edge of town. It's a mess. Chaotic fighting ensues as Ivan closes with Fritz. All is fire (cotton wool) and blood (paint) oh! it's more than flesh (plastic) can stand! (11,12,13,14&15)

But in the end, after 50% casualties the Reds are back in the town....will they sallie forth again?... we'll see same time, same place, next week.

Living next door to Alisovski

Russians wait.....(1)
FIRE! 152's come down on motorised infantry...do you smell burning?(2)

Pioneers continue to clear mines behind smoke but under fire(3) Little Kate misses juicy target, deviation beginning to work in the Germans favour the closer they get to a Russian blue on blue.(4)
Smoke clears...oops.(5)
Our turn!(6)
Crossfire from German direct fire rocks the Russian armour back on its haunches(7)
Dink, dink, dink...no one escapes...(8)
not one, the whole Russian line is battered and suppressed (9)
Infantry start to deploy for close assault, oddly they are less vulnerable in the open than in their APC's.(10)
Crisis point for Russians as seen from German side(11)
About to charge...(12)
Close support deploys(13)
Germans race across the now desperately exposed ground (14)
It looks less than optimistic for the Russians now(15)
Message form Comrade General:
" Tavarish and tavarishi (hello boys and girls) today we have the opportunity to smash the enemy! (we're boned) the fight will be hard (we're royally boned) but we will be victorious (I'll be alright jack). Show them what you are made of (plastic) and what we Russians can do (die in droves). Long live the revolution! (Siberia here I come!) Long live comrade Stalin! (I feel a 9mm headache coming on)"......next week German vocab for beginners.

Ice Cold in Alisovski

The fear of the Russian commanders could be smelled as the size of the German advance became clearer. Some smoke lifted and the rest drifted a little to reveal a company of Panzer IV F1's backed by a column of kit stretching back into the smoke. (1)
The assault forces follow up... German left hook begins to develop(2)
Jittery Russian commanders order transport to RV ready to hand. On the road (just visible in this pic) the Germans spot the movement and 105's are called in causing hits, and suppression's. (3/4)

Then...in came the 150's....(5)
..and made a hideous mess...just who do these Germans think is going to clean all this up then?(6)
Now the Reds know how this Bn felt.(7)
Welcoming committee awaits...(8)
Welcomes(9)
Accepted(10)
Support still blinded by smoke...critical moment for German advance(11/12)
engineers work frantically during smoke barrage(12)
Germans now break cover for left flanking assault...a bold move, but will it pay off?...tune in same time, same place next week!
